I've been watching this Post and I understand how certain Noises that are NOT NORMAL get looked over by these certain dealers. To me the 5.0 is a slug for 2018 with there Plasma coated Cylinder wall and there low tension Rings and all of the VCT going on its hard for this engine to run right the Engineer that came up with this Lame Plasma coating instead or Pressed in Sleeves to save Money should be horse whipped by all of the people that bought this POS

I've recently had a change of heart, whereby for 2019 models I'd take a Ram over a Chevy/GMC. That's bizarre, as I used to hate Chrysler products and I've owned many GM vehicles in my life, including trucks.
For me, the current full-size line-up goes like this:
1) Ford
2) Ram
3) Titan
4) Tundra
5) Chevy/GMC ... sad day for GM when a 12+ year old Toyota design is still a better choice.

I was out this weekend to test drive a few trucks. I test drove a RAM, GMC, and a Tundra. This is my honest opinion:
1. RAM - It probably takes the top spot in terms of the all around package. I'll be honest though, I wasn't thrilled with the interior. The detail is second to none, but the big LCD screen seemed like it was just dropped in the middle of the truck without considering ergonomics. The viewing angle would take a bit of getting used to. Other than that, it was quiet, smooth, and spacious.
2. Tundra - I'll admit, I was pretty disappointed with how it felt driving it. It's not the first time I drove one but this time it just felt like it didn't have the refinement of Ford, GMC, and RAM. The 5.7 seemed somewhat low on power and noisy. I was surprised.
3. GMC - I love the 6.2 but that's about it.
I just bought my wife an Outback on Saturday (pretty damn expensive for what they are but in terms of quality it's far superior to what I see from most trucks)...so I think I'm going to wait awhile to see if Ford addresses any of the issues because when I test drove one last week, it still was the truck that suited me best. I just can't push myself to buy another one atm.
As for the plasma wire-arc transfer liners, they are only going to be as good as the process used to put them in, not to mention the machining of the bore. To be honest, the technology is solid and if applied properly, is just as durable as your typical liner. Where I think they are having difficulties is with the block machining and certain aspects of the assembly. If they can figure that stuff out, the 5.0 is a good engine.
