Default Kicker Hideaway Issue

I’m installing a 10” kicker hideaway in my 2016 F150 XLT with the stock, basic 6 speaker radio and 8” screen. I have power but no sound. I used the WPT1212 harness from amazon and activated the plug with forscan. I’ve concluded that I need to tap into speaker wires, but I’ve heard conflicting things. A lot of people are saying to tap into the front speakers; however, the videos I’ve seen show people tapping into the rear. After speaking with a crutchfield tech I was told that because my truck didnt come with a sub in my stock set up, there there should be no filters that would cause problems if I were to tap into the rear speakers. Can someone confirm this for me? It would be much less of a headache than trying to tap into the front speakers.

You can tap into either, it needs power, ground, and a signal.
All the needed wires are supplied in the HS10 harness.
Kickers tech can be reached M-F, 8-5pm CT at 800-256-0808 if you'd like to call.

thanks so much! Is it true that if I had a sub as part of my stock system that I would have to splice into front rather than rear speaker wires? My dad might do this too but he has a sub as part of his stock stereo

It is a 2016 so it can't have a B&O. B&O started in 2018.

I build custom plug and play harnesses for this exact purpose. Hit me up if interested.

In my 2015 XL, I originally had the woofer hooked to my rear speakers, hardly any bass sound. I switched to the front speakers, it was like night and day. So hook to the front speakers.

The front speakers receive a full audio signal from the radio (there's probably a more specific term than signal but I can't think of it at the moment). The rear speakers do not receive this full signal. While yes you can tap into the rear speakers and it get a signal for the sub to work, it sounds much better when tapped into the front speakers and can be tuned to your liking via the settings on the hideaway (gain etc.) much better. I couldn't get my WPT1212 harness to work so I bought a kit that when between the radio and factory harness that basically let me make my own harness for the sub without cutting into the factory wires. I tried both the front driver and rear driver side speaker inputs and the sub sounded much better when tapped into the front speaker. I also have the 6 speaker base audio system.
