Keyless to plain key possible?
Hello. I’ve got a ‘19 XL with the keyless entry and uses an actual key to start the truck (as apposed to push button start)
My question is this. Is it possible to get a regular key cut? A key minus the fob part?
I understand it probably needs to be a chipped key. But has anyone done this? Where did you go? The dealer?
The reason I want this key is I want to hide it on the truck. In case I lose the fob or lock it in the truck.
So if it’s possible, let’s hear how.
Thanks.

I guess it is feasible to just disassemble the metal key from the fob. The key itself should work standalone. Fob is just for remote control (lock/unlock/panic). But I maybe wrong since I haven’t really done that before.

dealer will have the plain key without the fob. I had one made since the fob would keep unlocking my doors at work when in my pocket. Now that is the only key I use and use the keypad to get in. Had the dealer program it. It did not want to add on with the 2 keys + 1 key programming sequence in the manual. Works fine after dealer programming.
The keyway is hu101. You can buy keyblanks without transponder. You will only turn the mechanical locks with this key. It will not start the vehicle.

Or you can buy just the blades on eBay that are inserted into the standard flip key transponder. You won't have a handle with this option.
