Default Keyfob Range - Maybe 2ft?

Yes Batteries are new. Energizer Ultimate Lithium’s.

I’ve had this issue for awhile now but getting really irritating. Keyfobs are practically useless locking the truck unless I’m standing right next to the truck.

unlocking seems to work slightly farther away. Any ideas?

Only time I have ever experienced that was when the batteries were getting low. Possible that you got a bad battery.

Not sure where the antenna is on the truck but, if you find it's location, maybe check the condition of it.

Those are my 2 thoughts.

No idea. Never had a need to look for it. Plus it may be different by year. If you post your year, model and engine, someone should be able to help.

Definitely an issue there, I park at least 50 yards from my building and can start it as soon as I walk out the door. I would take it to the dealer, maybe an issue with internals, not the fob itself....

Do you have push button start, or key????

I have been amazed by the range of my key fob. Last winter I Have been remote starting mine at work. Probably at least about 150 yards(without much obstruction) starting without any trouble. We will see how well it works after the batteries weaken.

Just key no remote start. 2016 XL 2.7L.

Most bulbs have been switched to LED’s and anzo headlights.

I have had similar problems with my 2016 Lariat and have learned a few things

1) the system is very sensitive to surrounding radio frequency signals. If there is a mobile digital sign or other radio connected device near, they easily overwhelm the Ford system. There isn't a work around, you just learn to live with it

2) the system seems to be sensitive to LED lighting - not that in the truck but that in the surrounding area. I had all kinds of issues with mine, caused by two LED bulbs in my garage door opener. Went back to normal incandescant and the problems went away. Not very scientific, but just saying.

I bet it's the LEDs interferring with the remote... Especially since it works further to unlock (LEDs off). I'd start pulling them and seeing if it fixes it.
