Key remote start on a 17 XLT with Sync connect
I have a 17 XLT with 301A and Sync Connect/3 so can remote start my vehicle using the app, but not the key. Does anyone know what it would take to be able to do so with the key as well? Would I need a new module of some kind, or would it be as simple as getting a key with a remote start button and getting it coded to the vehicle, as 'a' remote start module is already installed?
302A should have both the key and app remote start option, at least here in canada?
Can you confirm which thread? The only one I’ve found is one where the person is looking to get remote start through the app, which I already have.
Sync connect and the larger screen were added as an additional extra on top of the 301A package. I’m trying to work out if it’s just the key that’s different or if there’s actually a second remote start module that’s associated with the key as well.

I don't recall what thread it was in. Just happened on it a while back while browsing.
DEI also makes an add on plug and play unit for about $200 (uses OEM remote, plugs in behind OBD2 port. 10-15 min install)

Thanks, I'll look into that. Sounds like a simple install and hopefully it doesn't affect the remote start already installed.

I already have Ford Pass, which appears to be the next generation version of that (I can remote start, lock, unlock, be notified of an alarm, fuel consumption and truck location). I'm looking to be able to use a key fob to remote start. Ford Pass is great but I'd rather be able to just press a button on the fob than navigate through the app menu when I'm near the truck.
I guess It's a fairly unique issue as most people will have a remote fob but not a cellular remote access.

If you're not, the app shouldn't be more than open and click to start. Ford Pass works that way (open and click), can't imagine Ford Pass is any more difficult.
A 2017 can have Remote Start enabled in the truck (yours does) and then simply need the proper key) to start it. A longer range antenna can be added for little dollars. If you want 2-way remote start, you'll need to add a module.

That is what I thought too at least from what I have read. I went on the Ford Pass site and asked them and they told me I'd have to purchase the module. When I looked up my options it shows my truck with the app function. My guess is Ford wants $$ to get it to function.
You can either add Ford Remote Access or wait until Sync Connect is available to be added separately. Release has been delayed from last summer until who knows when.
