Question Key Fob problem

Howdy, Yesterday my F-150 screen displayed "No Key Detected". I replaced both batteries, and it made no difference. I then tried (after an Uber ride home ) the other fob. I was able to start the truck after many attempts. I then drove a while and stopped. It's all back to normal now. What the hell happened?

You're supposed to put the key in the key dock to start the truck when it can't detect the key. It's there just for the situation you were in.

Ford puts it in 2 different spots depending on your truck's configuration. Check your owner's manual.

Default Successful test

Thanks for the help! I just did a successful test. I removed the batteries from the fob and then inserted the dead fob into the dock. Truck started like normal. I suggest you all do this, it may come in handy during a real emergency!

Well the question was never answered. What the hell happened?

A procedure to resolve the issue momentarily was given, but that doesn't answer the question. What the hell happened?

Or maybe a better question would be why does this happen with new batteries?
