He followed exactly as the title of this thread asked for.

You're correct and I realize that, but as I've factually explained in my first post #3051, stating simply what someone pays 'Under Invoice' can be soooo skewed that in order for this thread to have some meat and potatoes (sorry - non-vegan ) there needs to be more to it so others can actually rely on a post made in an apples to apples perspective. I just point this out to Posters when they have non-substantive and verifiable numbers. By not doing so, one is just slinging **** against a wall.

The nice part about this thread is the Poster can choose not to do a thing about it afterward, but many have followed up in the past 5,000 posts to show their numbers in a more concise manner.

Default 2018 Lariat 2.7 4x4 SCREW in Northern VA

Just purchased 2018 2.7 Lariat SCREW 4x4 Black/Black in Northern VA. No options or packages other than running boards and voice activated nav. Dealer added a spray in liner to seal it as we were $500 apart. Before folks flip out over doc fee, just know it’s standard for my area and you have to factor it into the deal as a vehicle cost and know about it before you negotiate. Otherwise, nobody would buy a car in VA, we would all head to MD where it’s capped at $300. No trade, so this deal represents the new truck only. I gave up $2k in additional Retail Cash to get the 0% for 60 months. I could have had 0% for 72 but took the $500 Ford credit rebate rather than the extra 12 months.

I wanted a specific truck, base 2018 Lariat black/black which is hard to find this late in the year, and this was the only one I could find within a reasonable distance (fortunately at my local high volume dealer) so was unable to play multiple dealers. Based on this thread I set my target discount at 11%. I wasn’t making much headway and figured I would keep my 16 year old 4runner another year, until a after a few days the salesman texted and said his sister dealership 10 miles down the road had requested the truck be transferred there for a potential buyer…maybe true or maybe a sales tactic, but he was finally willing to negotiate. I’ll have to remember this for next time to and maybe request the transfer myself using a dummy name (they don’t require a deposit to transfer between the two) to motivate the sales manager.
Here is a detailed a breakdown as I can give:

The dealer certs threw me off at first, but appears legit as I can’t find any public info on this Vincent code. When I factor these into my cost along with the spray in liner ($400 at local shops) I think I hit my goal along with the 0% financing. Not sure if you guys think the dealer certs should be included in my discount calc, but they got me close to target price before my available rebates and PCOs and I have no insight/control whether they apply the certs or eat the $1k themselves.

I negotiated my deal then threw my Ford private offers at them. The Expedition and College offers were under my wife’s name and different email address to keep them hidden but was unable to stack them both. They had already factored in my $250 USAA offer (even after they swore only the available public rebates were being applied along with their certs) then told me I couldn't apply it as wasn't stackable. When I saw it in the final paperwork as already being applied I told the sales manager I wouldn’t walk away over the $250 but my survey would be the worst he had ever seen for the lie...that did the trick…got my $250 back. Just goes to show you how important it is to mask those PCOs and use the survey to your advantage.

Thanks for all the great info on this forum....hopefully I did alright. All my paperwork is at home, so I can post documentation later this evening.

What they're telling you is that they don't care to do business with you. Plain & Simple! So, move on to others that will engage their interest to sell you a truck!!!

It's apparent over & over that they're M.O. is to prey only on clueless Buyers. This is very likely their internal Management policy. Savvy Buyers from this forum need not inquire with Crossroads. Shop in MD, VA & GA where Dealiars are willing to sell a truck at a greatly reduced margin. Remember, trucks are never sold at a loss no matter what any Sales Gnome tells you. You're merely sharing the spoils they bilked from the previous 7 Buyers that over paid dearly.

In the process of trying to find my unicorn now. Not perfect, but close, is the attached window sticker. Below that is the buyers order the dealer has initially quoted me. I have looked at so many different offers in the last two weeks, I have gone loopy, so if anybody has any insight on whether this is a hold, fold, or run don't walk type situation, I would be greatly appreciative. Thanks!

Think I have a deal worked out on a truck which I'll share if I do jump on the deal. Looking around 10k off blue box but I won't get into it just yet.

This thread was started by a US based poster so unfortunately your post doesn't contribute much as Canadian numbers are different. Plus, you had a trade-in which skews the numbers greatly, therefore there is no basis for apples to apples comparison. It wouldn't even help other Canadian viewers. I've mentioned to many previous posters that someone should research the price structure up there and create a Canadian specific thread that could parallel the Buying Strategies that others and myself (heavily) have contributed as a powerful tool. The most major drawback has been to get everyone that jumps onto this thread is to go back to the middle where my first post begins (#3051) in order to read up to at least Post #6000 to get some real true knowledge of what you need to know. Without this knowledge, Sales Gnomes will dance circles around a Buyer.

Good luck with your new truck!
