The guy just said, "Yeah, that's Maryland, this is the best we can do." I'm practically demanding they take my money, not even trying to eat into their holdback, and they still won't budge! It wasn't like this was out of the blue, either, I'd been in that dealership 3 times, test drove, borrowed a truck overnight, and showed them I was approved for a loan already.

Got in contact with a guy at Koons a little while ago, going to see what they can do for me.
Let us know what they come back with!

Heard back last night, they're willing to do 61628 (includes $300 doc fee) on a 2018 custom order with an invoice of 61975. This seems pretty good to me - Norris came in about the same, so I was considering telling Koons that if they can drop the $300 doc fee from the price, they have a deal. Virginia dealers were not even close with their outlandish $600-$750 doc fees.

What do you think?

Edit: MSRP on this truck is 66525, this includes the 1295 freight charge and the plat deluxe discount.

Further edit: I have to hand it to Koons, they made me that offer right away without jerking me around like practically every other dealership in the area. Good service.

Koons makes it easy! They should use that as their slogan.

You have a nice number out the gate. tell them you hate weird numbers and they have a deal at $61,750. Don't ever mention that you want the Doc Fee deducted because it seems like Dealers usually don't like when it's put to them that way. It makes sense because it exposes them for their BS Fee. Always better to just work it off the Selling Price which doesn't strike a nerve if they choose to deal.

You basically have Invoice/Holdback with that deal then.

Sorry, I should clarify. Their sale price was 60969, the remaining line items were tax, title, and doc fee of $300. What do you think I should counter with?

So i am new to this calculations being done..using Toptobottom example on Pg 304,
MSRP-DD 45160-1195 =43,965 x .115 = 5056
45,160-5056= 40,104
Rebates (at the time of sale) 500 CashBk +300 EcoBoost +2500 Customer Cash +1500 Bonus Cash = $4800
40,104-4800 = 35,304

I paid 35,428.

OK, sorry if I sound brash here, but I'm extremely busy today going into the holiday weekend and can't keep assuming things with changing numbers and all or what is and isn't included. So, I'm going back to revert to I NEED TO SEE A WRITTEN QUOTE PROVIDED TO YOU WITH YOUR LATEST DEAL - I hope you have something on paper (.pdf) document they emailed or texted a photo of some quote sheet to you.

2018 Ford F-150 Platinum
$66525.00 MSRP

Copy pasted from his offer:

$59969.00 (includes $500 Retail Customer Cash and $500 Ford Credit Bonus Cash)
+ $300.00 MD Processing Fee
+ $xxx.xx VA Tax
+ $xxx.xx VA Tag and Title

$59969 + $1300 for rebates and customer cash = $61269 sale price. Invoice is 61975.

My confusion stems from your first message suggesting I propose 61750, which is more than their actual offer.

OK, I see that I was going off the Invoice and didn't realize rebates were included. This is why I need to see something printed out from them on paper.

Let's start from the beginning. Where is that INVOICE # coming from?

This is your target deal to try to get to 10% which is Total MSRP less Markup (Invoice)+Holdback

$66,525 Total MSRP (On 'Window Sticker' - Blue box in lower right corner)
$-1,295 Destination & Delivery
$65,230 Dealer Retail Price (Suggested Retail on Dealer Invoice sheet)

$61,975 Dealer Invoice

$65,230 Dealer Retail Price
x .03 Holdback percentage calculation
$ 1,957 Dealer Holdback

$61,975 Dealer Invoice
$-1,957 Dealer Holdback
$60,018 YOUR TARGET SALES PRICE - basically a 10.% deal if you can get to it.

The above does NOT include anything BUT the Sales Price number that you need to make clear that they need to work on with you to avoid confusion which they WILL try to do.

If you add back the $300 Doc fee then it reduces your discount percentage by approximately .5 or 1/2%. This means that you could fight them lower by deducting:

$60,018 Target Selling Price
$ -300 Deduction to factor out the Doc fee
$59,718 Adjusted Target Selling Price

From here you can apply your $1,000 rebate incentive.

Then add the obvious TTL whatever that works out to.

No Doc Fee? If not, that's a damn good deal for a FL truck.

Got it, makes sense. Invoice is from the printout another dealer showed me. Will report back with final results.
