Default Jlt catch can issues?

Sorry if this was posted already but i couldn't find anything with the search engine. I recently put on a jlt catch can on a 2016 3.5 ecoboost with 12500 on it. Twice now I've had it start up and idle rough and then throw misfire codes. The first time it ran for crap untill i put the factory pvc but i think i had a hose pinched. After rerouting everything it seemed to be fine but this morning it did the rough idle and engine light but seemed to clear itself when i drove it. Talked to jlt and the hadn't heard of anything just wondering if any else has had this problem. I did empty a ton of crap out and would like to keep it from running through the intake but not if the system is causing more problems

I thought "catch cans" were blue smoke and mirrors products?

While some cans aren't worth the steel they are stamped of, a proper catch can does catch a lot of oil vapor and combustion products. Whether or not you need one, however, is up to the engine. Injector location, air flow and valve temperature all impact how much buildup with on the valves and chamber/piston head. Some engines will have relatively clean valves at a hundred thousand miles without a catch can, some are gunked up by 40k.

My browsing eco threads suggests Ford learned a hard lesson with the direct injection / forced induction trifecta. 1). High intake air temp, 2) loss of cooling via intake injection, 3) loss of cleaning chemicals in said lost intake injection. Maybe a quadfecta as the central combustion chambers ingest the bulk of the crankcase fumes.

Someone can speak up on this... Ford corrected the issue in the eco by adding intake injectors, not sure when, Gen2, or just before?

While an engine can be designed to deal with crankcase fumes without causing significant buildup, ingesting crankcase fumes does not have any benefits that outweigh negatives. If you drive your vehicles until they die, I've had vehicles that had cleaner valves at three times the mileage Vs when I installed the can.

This catch can poll is like the indy 500. Those that have or consider one were lagging behind and now, they are ahead going for the finish line!

Passenger side catch can or drivers? Ive heard of issues with the 3.5 engines with Drivers side throwing codes but not passenger.
If you google it, it was a pretty common issue at first.

But also, a lot of people werent having "rough idle" issues, just a code. If it was me, id send it back. If you really want a catch can, id try a different brand. I have one on mine but its a 17. Or you can buy a PCV line, cut it, install a air oil separator in-line, and see if that does better.
