So I ordered from Tasca and added my VIN when ordering. They’re saying the VIN doesn’t match the part for the $38 parts. They’re pointing me to THIS ONEinstead. I have the new body style, and thinking the truck may be an early 15 build so the VIN points to a 14. Am I wrong? Do I go with the part when searching by vehicle and not by the vin? Thanks!

When my IWEs went out, of course it was during the most inopportune time and I became stuck in snow because my front wheels would not engage. Then when I had them replaced, the sticker shock of $1200 sucked. When you think about it...spending $500 on the eliminator kit just makes sense. You can pull the solenoid harness for free, but what damage will that do to the electronics over time with dirt, mud, water getting in the open harness, corroding the pins? Maybe nothing...maybe a lot.

Oh, this systems sux for sure, and it just plain looks like Ford just doesn't care about using something else.
On pulling that harness, no biggy at all. Take some dielectric grease to the pins/sockets, wrap it up with the celebrated duck tape. The only thing that connector does is energize/de-energize the coil in the solenoid. The rest of the system doesn't care, in other words, no feedback to anything AFAIK. At least I don't see anything on the wiring diagrams.
Geez, $1200 just to replace the IWEs? That's pretty high.

Hmm, I don't know what the difference might be. Maybe.@djfllmn will see this. He might be able to help.

ALWAYS go by the VIN, there are build date cutoffs for the IWEs and related things.

Thanks for all the help so far guys. Next question. If I’m looking at aftermarket, should I be looking at 2014 Model parts?

With Tasca, if I look for a 2015, that part that they say is for my vin doesn’t fit a 2015. The part that fits is for a 2014. That’s why I am asking. Not trying to be combative. I can turn a wrench and swap it out but don’t want to make a mistake on the part. Thanks!

That’s why I’m wondering if I should look at 2014 parts for the aftermarket. There’s an $80 difference between a 2015 model actuator and 2014 model on Tasca. If I need the 2014, I’m thinking I’ll get the Duralast one from Autozone for $20 less than Tasca with a lifetime warranty. That way if it fails quickly, I can easily get new ones and replace them myself.

From what I posted, it says the part number in your link is for 2004-2008 F-150. Not 2014.
