Default IWE issues

So the truck, 2016 F150 4x4, is making a loud grinding/rattling noise. Sounds like fly wheels rattling and rubbing together. This only does this some time on turning left and accelerating and stops when I let off the gas peddle. It started with turning left and lately just on accelerating on the main pike near the house. It only does it cold and never warm. It only does it once a month or two. I had it into the dealer and of course, "it wouldn't do that while here." I told them it sounded like the clutch rattling, automatic, even though I had positive traction the entire time or the front end trying to engage and not engaging. Then he threw out vacuum valve or the IWE causing it, but they won;t do anything until it gets worse, or falls out of warranty.

Anyone have any solution on how to get this fixed faster? Drive in 4H more?

I could post a video, but didn't want to throw it up on my YouTube account. Its loud when it does it.

The next time it makes the sound try putting your vehicle in 4h and see if the sound stops. If it stops than there’s a good chance it is something with the iwe. I’ve had my 2016 in for iwe issues twice in the last year. The first time they replaced the iwe on both side. Then just this week I had it back in again and it ended up being one of the lines under the hood by the check valve. To me your issue sounds like it might be something different

I had the same symptoms as you, but perhaps not as bad as you described. mine would also do this only while turning left, at slow speeds.

i thought sure i had a bad wheel bearing, but i took a chance on the vacuum check valve (FL3Z-3A788-B for $7.00) and bingo.... problem solved!

hopefully it is just this for you, as it is a very common issue..... I'm actually thinking about keeping a spare in the glove box since they are so cheap and you can replace in about 15 seconds.

I had my left side IWE and a new check valve replaced at 59,000 miles on my 2015 3.5EB. Like yours mine happened when turning left. I now have a new clunk that has appeared recently. I’ve never had a truck with so many random thunks, clicks, and clacks. I can feel everything through the damn gas pedal.

The good check valve is blue. Even in my 2018 it came as black and white. Throw the black and white one away and get the blue and white and problem solved.
