Im wanting to add nav to my 16 that’s already equipped with sync 3 from the factory. I bought an APIM off eBay and the maps work everywhere except around me (southeast). The seller sent another APIM and it does the exact same thing. Now he’s telling me I need to replace my gps antenna because it’s too old and it won’t work with the new version??? Anyone ever heard of this? It won’t let me reset the clock to gps time (last pic), but works with the non nav APIM. I’m just trying to add nav to my sync 3 equipped 16. I thought it would be easy but it’s turning into a pain! 😕 any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Do you live in Bfe? As in a very rural area? I've seen it say there is no map data for very rural places in AR but it'll still spit out coordinates and the breadcrumbs work.
Have you taken it for a drive to see if it just lost currently. Other then that the GPS antenna sounds about right. Look at Tascaparts and see if there are two different part numbers for the antenna.
have you checked with forscan to see if there are any errors? you could also buy a cheap gps antenna from amazon and plug it into the APIM set on the dash and see if it start working. that would at least narrow down where your problem is
Map data is stored in the APIM. The GPS antenna integral to the AM/ FM/satellite radio antenna receives GPS
data and sends it through the satellite radio/ GPS coaxial cable, satellite radio/ GPS splitter, and GPS coaxial cable
to the APIM. The APIM uses this data in addition to wheel speed and wheel rotation direction CAN messages from
the ABS module to calculate route information and provide accurate navigation tracking. The APIM processes the
data and transmits it though the LVDS cable to be displayed on the FDIM. In the event that the GPS fix or signal is
temporarily lost, the APIM will continue to use the CAN messages from the ABS module as well as information
from the internal gyroscope and accelerometer to provide accurate vehicle tracking.

Did you buy GPS antenna when you installed the Nav APIM?
