Default Issue with my tailgate step

Anyone know if the step is adjustable so that it can be down farther into the tailgate when closed? I would like my new BAK MX4 to seal better in back.
First picture shows gate down and gap at step because it does not go in far enough.

Second picture shows the gate up and the top plate sticking up because the step does not retract far enough into the tailgate.

9 minutes to read your post, find the answer and post the OEM document. Little off my game today.

Thanks for that, unfortunately it leads me to the tailgate release handle reference.
I did the loosen and adjustment but there is still incomplete closure.
Either the yellow handle sticks up too far or there is another spring on the bottom of each leg that is pushing too hard for the step to retract all the way.

Here's some more pictures according to the referenced documentation.
uneven latch

Note the bottom tab even looks tilted counter-clockwise to the 11:45 clock position, indicating the uneven latch

The latch grabs on the left side so it seems like that side could be rotated down to be level
I think the latch needs to be adjusted but also there needs to be less spring pressure pushing the step out of the tailgate. The adjustment might put too much strain on the latch.

I had the same issue with mine. Took the yellow cap off and took care of it. Temporary solution but it works i guess.

Can you put the cap back or is it torn?

I made sure to be careful taking it off. It goes back on easily and isnt damaged.
