Default iphone 7plus message issue

I just swapped out my iphone 6s to a 7 plus and for those familiar with the phone are aware that via bluetooth the phone and sync would allow me to hear any text messages sent while driving or I could read them on the screen if stopped. While after setting up my new phone I no longer have that function, after talking to the wonderful people at apple support I am no further ahead, that kept insisting it was the Ford sync that was the issue. I am hoping someone here has had this issue and can direct me to a solution.

Do you have messages enabled in the Bluetooth settings for Sync on your phone?

Yes sir I have messages enabled, It also has a feature where messages are automatically disabled when phone is connected to bluetooth and I have that set to manual so the phone should prompt me to accept or refuse messages.

I'm not sure then. I updated to iOS 11 on my 7 and messages worked last night for me.

Mine didn't work when I bought the truck.
You have to go to settings, Bluetooth, Sync, then turn on show notifications.
This is the iphone settings I am talking about

This. If that doesn't work then I would delete the sync from the phone and phone from sync and start the pairing from scratch.

Yes. Make sure you have notifications on for your Bluetooth device.
