Intermittent vibration while braking
I have a 2016 F150 quad cab 2wd truck. Truck has about 88k on it. Previous owner had it serviced constantly at Ford house. It has developed an intermittent vibration while braking. Sometimes is is slight, but usually it is bad. Though not enough to cause driving issues. Speeds are usually over 40. Usually happens after a period of hard driving. Then there may be weeks of smooth driving. I just replaced the tires with no change. Brake rotors would cause the vibration constantly. What else could be causing the issue? I have kept the maintenance up and the Ford house has not mentioned anything when I have work done on it. (I still have the warranty.) I will get it in the shop soon, but was hoping someone might have an idea of what could be causing this.
Thanks,
Thanks,
I have had the issue on two different trucks for two different reasons, but the same effect.
On my 18 the effects was a pulsing under braking.
The cause was front Caliper pins frozen.
Pins re-lubed ok.
This wore the pads unusually and required the front discs to be replaced.
Have not had a repeat of the issue for over a year.
On some older trucks, over tightening the front wheels can distort the discs to the point that when they rotate, the Pads try to grab the Disc in their warped area and results in brake pulsing and to some temperature sensitivity.
Good luck.
