Default Intermittent gear indicator

I recently purchased at 2015 F150. The gear indicator on the instrument panel is on sometimes and off at others. If it's on when I start the engine it will stay on. Same if it's off when I start the engine. I'd like to know what is causing this in case it is a indication of a bigger problem down the road. If the device that signals the dash indicator also sends a signal to the control module and it is failing I could be looking at a big problem later. The dealer doesn't seem to have a clue.

Cycle the program switch on the gear shift stalk. I too went through this accidentally hitting the switch. Learned about it from this website.

You control that by pushing the plus or minus or the paddle shifters in the raptor.

Default Intermittent gear indicator

Are you saying that if you start the truck and go directly from Park to Drive the indicator may be off and tapping the Manual selection switch will turn it back on? I will try that the next time the indicator is off.

Yes. It is off by default (at least mine is). I hit the + button when I want it on.

It should stay on by default, unless you hit the + button and shut it off.
