Default interior plastic paint

Is this just getting scratched or is the paint on this plastic disintegrating? On center console. I test drove another truck before buying this one and saw some drips from something that looked like it melted the paint off. Wasn’t sure if it was sensitive to certain cleaners or something?

I’d say it’s likely just getting scratched and chipped from wear. I can attest this paint isn’t very durable. My lil pup has my console pinstriped from her claws. Duplicolor makes some spray paints that match it pretty well tho FYI.

The color varies by trim. Duplicolor perfect-match “dark shadow grey” is what I used on my XLT sport. Pretty sure the lariats/non-sport trucks have a much lighter trim color. Couldn’t help you with those unfortunately.

wonder if the lariat sport has the same color as the XLT sport?
I’m in a 2019 Lariat with the sport appearance package.

Could always run by autozone and see if they’ll let you carry the paint cap out to your truck. I believe the sport packages use the same trim. Don’t quote me on that tho…

I wonder if it could be covered in leather nicely? Would wear better.

Leather might be tricky. I’ve seen older posts where folks have wrapped the trim pieces in colored vinyl. Looked good too.

Any links to those? I bought some carbon fiber vinyls off amazon but haven't had the chance to attempt to put them on yet.

The carbon vinyl looks nice imo. There’s also several YouTube videos out there showing the removal of the trim pieces and wrapping them.
