Default Interior Door Lights

My truck has the Lariat ambient lighting. I noticed today that sometimes the driver door light is red while the others are blue. Today I opened all four doors and same thing while open, all doors blue except driver door red. Normal?

If you have a pre 2018 year model, The door is supposed to light up red when the door is open. Is your driver door red when the door is closed?

I've noticed the same with mine. All of the doors will light up red when opened, but I have noticed a couple of times that my driver's door is red when closed. I've never noticed when I'm moving, just when I'm home and the truck is in park. I'll try to remember tonight to watch and see what makes it change color. Maybe it switches to red when in park or when my seat belt comes off. I'll report back with my findings.

I think i've only ever seen red on my drivers door, and only when it's open. Interesting to see what others find.

I know for sure that I've seen red on my rear doors. It was when I first got the truck and I remember wondering what was going on because I had just set the ambient lighting to blue. Had to experiment with the other doors before discovering it correlated with the door being open.

Another interesting thing that happened to me a few weeks ago was that the door lighting was off completely. Don't know when it happened, I just know I realized that the footwells were lit but the doors were not. I went into the settings and set them to blue and they came right back on. Not sure if my APIM has a problem or just an isolated incident.

My MY16 Lariat has the LED by the interior door handle turn red when the door is opened. Only turns the light red on the door that is open, and works that way on all four doors. All the other LEDs stay that colour that is set through the menu.

The illumination from the ambient lights isn't bright enough to be noticed from more than a few feet away, so turning them red when a door is open doesn't serve a safety function. Just visual entertainment, like the multi-colors Ford dropped because it doesn't serve any function.

Mine came on half way thru a 2.5 hour drive. Door closed all trip. Red light came on. Drivers door. Probably wiring issue in harness between door and can. Nothing came on dash.
