Interesting problem
I used to have a '96 F250. Recently purchased a 2018 F150 Lariat with a 3.5. Really like the truck, the engine is pretty snappy from my time in it. Time will tell how the engine and tranny hold up as I take care of my stuff. Always have. But, I'm by no means electrical oriented but I do have some common sense. More a mechanical guy. Took the truck out yesterday with my wife and grandkids. It was a nice day so I opened up the vista roof. Came back home later in the day and the vista roof buttons wouldn't work. No matter what I did they were dead. So I thought I might have burned a fuse. Look in the manual and I found 2 fuses for the vista, moonroof, being 23 and 27. Pulled both of them and those micro fuses are really tough to see if you've got a break in them. Really didn't see anything suspicious so I put them back in. Decided to try the buttons again and lo and behold the vista roof closed. Didn't change fuses because I don't have any micros. It just miraculously worked. Has anyone had this type of problem and what could be the cause? Inquiring minds would like to know! Thanks.
Welcome to the forum.
I've had similar happen. It's like enough crud builds on the fuse and contacts that simply removing it and reinstalling it clears enough crud that it starts working again. Those micros are tiny. Need to use a meter to test continuity between the contacts as yes it can be hard to tell if the fuse is bad. Glad it's working for you again.

I noticed when I pulled the cover that it was a little cruddy back there. Next time I clean it will get back there and clean it out. First time in 5o years I'll be cleaning the fuse box! Thanks for the reply!

removing and reinstalling the fuse got it to reset and work, but the actual problem was a power wire that was just barely going to ground when the truck was driving and then not going to ground when truck was sitting.
in his case, the wire in question was the driver side sun visor. The wire was pinched and when he hit just the right bump in the road it touched metal and went to ground.
Hope this helps.
You know, it could be something as simple as you trying to close the thing while your truck was still in gear. Try it again while in gear and out. With all the computers in these things, I often think the engineers lay awake at night trying to think of more things to confound us with. 🙄

Yup, just saw it. I'll keep an eye on it and if it happens again I'll investigate. So the wires going to the vista roof go through the drivers side sun visor? Are they part of the vanity lights?
min not sure how exactly the overhead harness is rigged, but it definitely fixed his problem. It was strange that going to ground wasn’t enough to pop his fuse.
