Default Integrated Trailer Brake Controller, Need it?

2018 XLT truck with tow package and 302A package, and tow assist. Should I have a the brake controller or is it included somehow someway. I can also specify towing mode, along with sport, normal, etc on the dash. thanks. Yes the truck is new to me. I mounted the controller under the steering column on my old F250.

The controller should be by your right knee if you have it. The tow package does not include it... Max Tow does. It can be added after the fact... plenty of threads on how to do that if you search... and I would highly recommend the integrated controller over anything aftermarket.

Thanks, understand ,,,dealer assured me the item was in the truck. He also told me I was going to get a survey on his performance. I think Ill drop him email about the controller before I get the survey.

As stated it is not included with the standard tow pack but easily added later. Shop around if your dealer won’t do it. Price for installation and programming ranged from $250-450 when I was shopping around!

It is very visible, right of steering wheel. Not anywhere else. If he told you it was included, make him install it.

Great thanks for the picture. I'm working something out with the dealer.
In my truck there is a little shelf were the controller supposed to be and the bottom of the 2 1/2" shelf is rubber. The 2 1/2" fitted rubber bottom is easy removable and the rubber reminds me of the piece of rubber floor mat. It even has raised 1/4" creases (striping) like a a floor mat. Thanks

Doesnt sound like the truck you has it. Make them installing and activating it a condition of the sale. It is a $133 part MSRP that should take a tech at most 30 min to install and 15 minutes for them to hook it up to the computer and activate it.

I bought mine for $92 from a dealer in MN and installed it in 45 min and activated in Forscan.

Yep. I’d drive back to the dealer tomorrow and ask the salesman to point it out. When he inevitably can’t, make them install it.

Also agree with above above statements to get it and don’t go aftermarket. The Ford integrated controller is better than any aftermarket I’ve ever used!
