Default Intake not staying down

Hey there guys . I’ve used the google search and also search function on here. Recently picked up a ‘18 XLT super crew f150 with the 5.0. Been playing around with the v8 while driving and noticed I could hear the Motor really sucking air. Seemed to also start starving for air under heavy accels. I popped the hood to notice the intake opening that sits on top of the radiator on the left side broke the clips holding it down and open. Also appears to be sucked closed. Any body have any suggestions on how to keep it mounted down so it won’t suck the bottom of it in and try to eat it ?

Did you get any kind of warranty? Maybe the dealer will take care of it out of good will if you did not.

yeah it’s got a full warranty. I just didn’t think it was worth bothering the dealer over it breaking the clips . That’s why I came here to see if others had the problem

That lower lip, or whatever you call it, is held down with trim clips, sometime called Christmas trees. Just see what size you need and buy a handful at a parts store. Crap, a body shop might even just give them to you.

yup that lower lip is what I’m talking about. Yeah I’ve already put a few in. Was wondering if anybody had a more solid way to secure it. Don’t want the intake to keep eating clips

I ran a tuned 3.5, and 2 tuned 5.0s with no problem. Both 5.0s were even aftermarket CAIs. If you're using the correct size, it should work. Kind of a redneck way to do it, but a couple zipties might work.

I get it. Not going against you just already threw a few sets at it. Thinking I’ll have to go zip ties. Just didn’t know if you guys had a mod for it

If it is sucked closed like you said you are loosing air intake and it wont run right. I would be taking it in under warranty and having them replace all the parts.

Not sure what you mean by "sucked closed" but it should not be doing that. Here is a nice alternative made out of hard plastic and not soft rubber like the OEM intake inlet: https://www.americantrucks.com/afe-f...B&gclsrc=aw.ds

I neglected to reinstall the clips on my 2.7 when I changed the grill. Hard acceleration would cause the lower lip to be sucked into the intake hose. Tech at the dealer made a video of it. Cost me $120.00
