Instrument lighting
I don’t do Forescan (too old). Search didn’t help.
Here is the problem. 2016 F150 XLT. Am old and can’t read the labels on controls. Even in day light. I need all of the controls lit up like they do at night. Anyone know how to do that??

Common complaint. Markings on the buttons are more translucent than white, and hard to read in daylight even if you're wearing reading glasses like I have to. Much better at night when the backlighting makes them distinct.
Try putting something dark over the sensor in the top of your dash by the windshield. I think that's the light sensor that kicks on your auto lights. Also make sure your dimmer is set to brightest setting.

Will try that. It worked pn a different auto. Worth a try here. Thanks
Ford must've had a lot of feedback agreeing with the OP because they've made changes in the 2021 and up trucks. I just had a 2021 F-150 loaner for 3 weeks while mine was in the shop and the IP backlighting is always on. It looks like the system is constantly adjusting the brightness in accordance with the ambient light, but you can see it's always on. Driving under overpasses you can see the signature blue/green Ford lighting even though the headlights aren't on. Driving as the sun goes down the system makes continuous adjustments. The screen starts dimming and backlighting turns up. The headlights seem to come on with more ambient light than in my 2016 but it doesn't immediately switch to full dark mode, the gauges stay at full brightness but the screen is dimmed but not on dark mode. As it gets darker it eventually dims the gauges and switches the screen to dark mode.
