Installing Sync on a XLT without Sync
there could just be a problem with the sync module itself. ford vehicles that dont have sync will not come with a apim period, ford will never put a module in a vehicle that didnt come with the option from factory. , im sure its just because your module is failed which is why you have no sync functions. there is no on or off programming for sync, you either have sync or you dont. do you have aux plugin or usb? if so try playing music thru the aux and let me know your findings. if you have no music playing from aux i can assume you have a failed module, no power/ground to the module or possible open in one of the i-can circuits.
You should try a master reset, starting with the step after clearing your phone.

in order to physically see the apim a network test will need to be performed. Unless forscan is able to self test individual modules. Just take it to the dealer and have the diag. Just tell them my bluetooth doesn' work. I see failed apims on f series all the time especially 15+my.
Hooked it up to Forscan today. Both the APIM module and ACM module are there and passed the self test. Found a few parameters that looked like be related to my problem, but they were already the values to which I would have changed them. I'm stumped. My local dealer seems pretty useless. Going to have to bring the truck to another dealer, I suppose.
Having just read up on this, it turns out-that the "Non-Sync" variation is where you can regain the Aux-in feature. Since you lose the Bluetooth feature when dropping sync, they've left these people with an alternate-option to tie-in multimedia devices. In short, if you Have that Auxilary 3.5 jack, you can be sure that you don't have Sync installed. You can only have one of these two choices/not both. And this is only possible on the very basic of the base models, because once you get into the higher trim packages(I believe it's XL and up) Sync becomes standard-equipment.
