Installed HID's and LED switchbacks and have some issues
Hey guys,
bought a 2016 XLT sport back in december and love the truck but wanted some HID's and led switchback turn signals.
I had DDM tuning on my 2013 Silverado and had the flickering issue which was resolved with the relay harness. So I bought the same for the F150 and am getting flickering when headlights are set to auto during the day(while in day-time running lights). Found on DDM tuning's website the error eliminator and ordered a set, but wondering if anyone else had this issue and what solved it.
And for my switchbacks, I bought Diode Dynamic led's and a set of plug in resistors since I didnt want to use crimpers on the wiring, figured plug n play would be cleaner. Well I installed them with the resistors and they will blink but when the turn signal is off they are off, no white like they should. So I tried removing the resistors and they work fine except on the interior I am getting hyper flash but they arent actually hyper flashing. Anyone have success with switchbacks? Which resistors did you go with?
Thanks, and damn these headlights are a pain to remove. Ford made it a chore.

If you have Forscan you can disable the hyperflash.

The flickering is because of the lower voltage supplied to the low beam HIDs when DRLs are active. They don't have enough voltage hence the flickering.

Turn off your DRLs. This can be done through the cluster menu or Forscan on most vehicles. The reduced voltage of the DRL mode dances around the activation point of the HID relay and causes flickering.

The 2015+ F-150 will not hyperflash on the exterior of the vehicle with LEDs installed
It does change the blink rate on the dash indicator though, which can be remedied through the use of resistors.
Most of the "plug and play" resistor harnesses you see online aren't wired correctly, so it's entirely possible that's what is causing your issue.

Please, take my advise. USE FORSCAN TO DISABLE HYPERFLASH. Do not use the resistors. They get extremely hot and must be drilled into the metal of the vehicle because of the heat generation. I used forscan yesterday to disable hyperflash and could not be more happy. It was very easy, just need a ODBII reader compatible with forscan. Please PM me if anyone needs help, I will help.
The resistors are a terrible design, all it takes is a simple fix with forscan.
