Default Improving lane keeping system

For as good as this thing is at parallel parking, it’s kinda crappy at staying in the lanes. Is this the kind of thing that Ford will improve over time with software updates or is this pretty much it for the life of the truck?

I've never driven any vehicle with it, but 2 friends have Explorer's with it and say it works great. One is a 18, other is a 16 I think. The commercial for the 19 Edge makes it look like it works well, but then again, it's a commercial!

My 18 Edge Sport has it and it works pretty well. I believe the '19s are improved though.
I don't use it often. Used it a lot on a drive from Vegas to Indianapolis last year and it was great for letting you know when you're done for the day.

Lane keeping works okay on highway - pretty much useless in city. I only turn mine on when on highway.

Now I'm kind of curious as to what I should be expecting from it. I rented a Volvo XC90 a couple years ago that had it and it was amazing. It worked nearly 100% of the time and pretty much drove the car for me on the highway and in traffic.
With this, if I'm on the highway and come up on a car, it'll shut off for 5 or 6 seconds and then find the lanes again. If I start to drift toward a lane, the line on that side will turn yellow and half the time it'll nudge me back and the other half it'll just shut off and let me drift. I feel like I can't trust it.
I know it's not meant to drive for me, but it just doesn't seem quite as good as what I expected it to be.

The feature is Lane Keeping Assist... not "automatically keep my car in the lanes because I'm lazy".

I'm aware. It should still not turn off every 10 seconds.

^^lol, yeah, this^^

In my 16 is was useless, only worked half the time, but in the 18 it works pretty good, and does what it is supposed to, nudge and correct in a moment of inattentiveness. However it is not a self driving mechanism and never intended as such. It is also not used for auto parking, sensors behind the fenders are used for that, not the camera. It works based on how well it can see the lines on the road, and is easily fooled by light colored shoulders, or salt covered cracks. It's not perfect, but works as intended.

I have found the lane correction to be a little aggressive and on icey highways, I'd advise to keep it off!
