Default Is the image processing unit APIM?

Only reverse camera screen is always black or very dark. It may work with regular brightness once out of every 100 times I put the truck in reverse. It's not an issue with the physical rear camera itself but the dealer ordered an image processing unit to replace it next week. Is this the same thing as the APIM?

Thanks. Is it big surgery to replace that or not? Do they have to go in the dash at all?

yes they do, it lives behind the screen and the center control stack,

do you only have the small screen in your truck? They call the APIM the image module in the small screen trucks

Lariat with tech pkg. Well that stinks. I just want to make sure they are replacing the right part. She definitely called it the image processing unit.

ah so yes, you would be getting a full apim replacement, the other image module lives behind the rear view mirror

don't sweat the APIM replacement, happens more than you think

Cool thanks
I just want to make sure it's the right party. They definitely called it the image processor unit not the apim.

There are 2 Image Processors if you have 360 cam, Lane keep assist. One is located by the rear view mirror (IPMA) and one is inside the dash(IPMB). IPMA controls the lane keep assist etc and IPMB controls the cameras. The IPMB sends the video to the APIM. Considering only the rear cam is dark i would imagine its either the camera, The IPMB rear camera input, or the wiring in between. I'm sure they are going to replace the IPMB and not the APIM as that doesnt make any sense.

Yup I talked to the TECH after, and he said they aren't replacing the APIM, just one of the image processors.
