Default I'm Sync Ignorant and Need Help

I guess it's that sync deal; don't really know. On my little tv at times, normally when I crank up to go somewhere, I'll get a msg which basically says "phone not found" or similar words. I'll tap the cancel button which deletes that msg but then a msg with something about 911 appears. I'll cancel it and them I'm gtg having only the black screen with time / temp.. Is there a setting I can use to kill that or is my Sync messed up?

Thanks

It sounds like your sync is attempting and failing to connect via bluetooth. Perhaps an old phone, a friend/family members phone who has once connected, or maybe even your phone that has the bluetooth disabled. If this is the case it's as simple as going into your settings and deleting devices not in use or going into your phone settings and allowing it to connect via bluetooth or both. My guess is that the issue is with your phone and that your phone is locked to all but 911 emergency use.

I do not have my phone attached.
There is a panel on the home screen telling me to connect a phone, but there is no pop up alert for that.
I tapped the 911 button once when trying to tap the home screen. I had an error similar to what you describe. Don't know what it was but wondered why I needed 911. LOL It was operator error.
Something in your truck is trying to reach 911 it seems like, but is unable since your phone is not connected.

The only way I've seen to make the screen black is to actually turn it off under display. Screen is turned on when it is touched though.
I'm also in a 2016, we should have the same Sync Version. Unless a Lariat is different.

Thanks. Regarding the black screen, I guess I have it turned off (so to speak) because after I kill the phone bs, I have a nice simple blank / black sreen with the exception of time and temp. But my rear camera image displays when I select reverse. I got the truck used and was wondering (I'm now laughing due to my ignorance) if it had someone's old phone stuff stored in there somewhere. I do have bluetooth disabled on my phone. Hoping to someday learn all this so that I can take advantage of the features; to a point. I damn sure don't need KIT to dial 911! lol

Humm....I drove home this evening with my screen display 'off'.
I went out just now and the screen is on. I figured it did come on by itself after being turned off manually, after a key cycle, so to speak.

your screen is staying blank except for reverse camera?
When I got home (black screen), I I switched to reverse to see if it would light up and sure enough it did.
I would love a way to shut off the screen including the backup camera.

When I switch off my display, I don't get the time/temp. It will only display something if I switch the source using the steering wheel controls.
I don't think it can be so dim that it appears to be off can it? There is a brightness control for the display.

How well do you call 911 unconscious? Your truck will if you have an accident that is severe enough AND if you pair your phone. Your Sync manual, as well as your owner's manual, can be downloaded at owner.ford.com. You can learn how to reset, then properly use Sync.
