Hey Guys,

Just wanted to ask this as this also happened with my 2013 Ford Fusion on occasion.

When starting the truck the truck won't start but then a couple of seconds later it starts.

So last night while leaving the range I turned the key and let it go as oone normally does when starting a vehicle, this time nothing happened but as we all know it is natural to turn the key and think your vehicle will start right away, so I turn the key and instintively put my seat belt on and as I put my seat belt on it started, sort of a delay. I asked my mechanic and he had no idea. Again this has happened in my Fusion and now this truck.

I am not overly concerned about it but curious if anyone has a clue.

Thank you

Travis

Could be any number of things causing this:
  1. Loose or corroded power or ground wire (including battery terminals).
  2. Starter relay going bad.
  3. Starter starting to go bad.
  4. Weak battery or slightly low SOC (State of Charge).
  5. Ignition switch starting to fail.
  6. Brake position switch starting to fail.
  7. Transmission range sensor (Neutral signal).
  8. BCM (Body Control Module).
  9. PCM (Powertrain Control Module).
Further testing and analysis would need to be conducted to narrow that down. Most likely one of the first six I've mentioned.

As to the delay, read up on Ford's OTIS system.
