Default I need to vent

Greetings,
I really like my truck. It’s my 3rd F150. Every new truck was such an improvement over the truck it replaced. With the 2018 sometimes I even forget I’m driving a truck. It is so smooth, comfortable and quiet.
Here’s my current state of affairs.
Truck has a little over 28000 miles on it. I’ve had several issues with the truck that the dealership I purchased the truck from can’t seem to resolve. They have made one issue in particular worse, then worse again. When cold the transmission would loose all drive when it shifted into an indicated 4th gear. Two TSB’s were performed, ultimately the valve body got replaced. My truck was in their hands for 3 weeks and 2 days. I picked the truck up on December 23. I ran a couple of errands, maybe 10 miles. I parked in the garage and immediately smelled burning oil. The transmission is leaking, it’s past closing time at the dealership and they’re closed for the holidays.
I returned to the dealership first thing Monday December 27. They tell me the oil pump, or torque converter seal is leaking. The transmission is going to have to come out, parts won’t be available until December 31. I was told it would be okay to drive.
I returned the truck to them yesterday. Today I get a call. Transmission is now making noise (after they replaced the seal) we need to pull it out again……. Later today I get another call, “nothing wrong with the oil pump seal but the pan is full of metal”
WTF!!!!
Now they have to perform a “cost analysis” to determine weather to repair the trans in house or replace with a factory reman. Like the title says, I need to vent. WTF!!!
I have a case with Ford customer service from my previous repair. My representative is going to further escalate the case but honestly I’m not sure I want whoever is working on my truck to even touch it.
Feeling pretty disgusted
Sorry for the long post. If anyone has any words of wisdom…….
Hope you all are having a better day than me.
Cheers

Get out from under it if you can once it’s repaired. You got a bad one. The way the market is you can sell it for what you paid and get something else. Only other alternative is to let them fix ,but then get an extended warranty just in case.

I hope they are giving you a loaner while they dick around with the “ cost analysis”….good luck chuck

Any other dealers around that you can bring it to?...maybe one that has a veteran that actually knows how to fix stuff.

Damn that is always a bummer to hear. I know how you feel. My truck was at the dealer for 33 days for cam phaser replacement, a transmission TSB, and to diagnose me finding metal in the engine oil on my last change. I picked it up and same thing, within 10 miles or so the engine is making a terrible racket/knocking. Transmission seemed to be operating smooth though so I guess that's cool...I dropped it off the following Monday 12/20 and still don't have it back. I opened a case with Ford corporate to try to expedite the process but as of this morning the technician is "still trying to replicate the noise the engine was making so we can pinpoint the problem area." I'm pretty sure they likely haven't even looked at it but that is the pessimist in me.

Anyway, I'm not sure if people like you and I would be crazy to let them fix it and keep driving or if we should just sell it and go buy a different truck. I know I can sell it for at least what I paid in March, but there are simply no trucks available in my area that are less than $60k.

I hope they get your truck fixed up and running properly but that sure is frustrating.

If it's in warrantee they should replace with a new transmission.

If it's full of metal I would be telling them I won't accept a rebuild. Too much risk for problems.

We got a new warranty tranny in the wife's 2014 Charger at 73k miles because they couldn't figure out the problem with it after replacing 2 valve bodies. It's been fine ever since, and we have put 20k miles on it.

Push for a new transmission complete assembly if possible rather than a reman.
You are still under powertrain warranty.
Just tell them you didn't buy a new truck to come with used rebuilt parts in it.
They probably didn't have the torque converter seated properly in the oil pump, now you have noise and filings in the pan.

I disagree that he got a bad truck. Sounds to me like a completely crappy dealer.

Get Ford involved, find a new dealer with their help, have the entire trans replaced.

not that easy, if ford cost cap says repair we have to repair unless a higher power(IE Ford hotline, or zone rep) says otherwise

FWIW a rebuild is with new parts not used junk and there are no reman 10R80s out there yet that i am aware of, just new
