I have a 2017 instrument cluster it is a 8 inch and I have a 2020 truck is there anyway to enable drive modes on that cluster or do I have to get a different cluster

 

Why do you have a 2017 IC in a 2020 truck? The IC has no bearing on what drive modes your truck has. Sorry, I don't understand what you're asking...? Also, add a signature with your truck's information. That makes answering questions about your specific truck much easier. Welcome to the forum! Hopefully you get your answer.

 

 

I got it for free from a friend who put a aftermarket one in his truck. I’ve done some custom stuff to it and I was seeing if I could load software from a cluster from a higher year that would then enable the drive modes. That would then let me use it just like the 4 inch that came in it sorry if I confused you just seeing if it was possible.

 

I have a 2020 XLT that I installed an 8" 2019 lariat cluster. The drive modes (niormal, eco, sport, tow) are controlled by a button on the side of the shifter handle. I don't know of a way to set it in the cluster. The cluster does have a light that shows the drive mode once set by the shifter button though.
