Default I hate carb!!!

So I just tried to order the hypertech programmer for my truck, this is just the speedo calibration one, not the one to change any engine parameters.
Apparently it's not legal for sale in California.... I just want to put on my new wheels and tires

The joys of living in the over-reaching, over regulating .gov in the Communist Republic of Cali...

I will second that!!!! Try getting a catalytic convertor for a 2005 F150. Its the exact same part as a 2004 except the part number. I could have paid $600.00 for a replacement. BUT NOooooooo since the 2005 one not certified by CARB I could not buy anything but the OEM from fORD FOR $2100.00. And since the part number was different from the 2004 that I COULD get. Nobody would SMOG the truck.

Have somebody outside of Cali buy it for you and ship it over. Many people do it.

Agreed. CARB laws are one of the many reasons I wouldn't ever live there, even so CARB laws would be the least of my concerns living in that state.

This however is not all encompassing. If say you swap the rear end gearing of your differential and do it badly, damage to the rear end wouldn't be covered. Separate issues elsewhere on the truck would still be up to the manufacturer to cover the same as they would on any stock vehicle.

I don't get why people say things like that. It's simply untrue.

This is one of the reasons I left Commiefornia very quickly when I got out of the Marines. I caught a lot of flak because of my truck. They didn't have CARB yet when I was there, but they were stupid strict even before that law. Being military, I could tag and register my truck back home, which meant I didn't have to be up to Cali's standards, I had to be up to the standards of my home state. Oklahoma has no emissions testing.

With no cats, and a cherry bomb my truck was really loud.
