Default Humming/Whining Noise while accelerating/decelerating

I am hoping you guys could point me in the right direction on identifying a humming/whining noise that recently started on my '15 F150 3.5 EcoBoost FX4 SCrew

The noise is harmonic and I can hear it the loudest between 45-55 mph, it disappears at 65mph, and returns if I let off the gas or brake from 55mph to 0mph. No change in power.

I checked the IWE's and they're engaging/disengaging properly. Check out the video below for the sound. Noise starts at about 13 seconds.

I know it’s a bit late to reply, but did you ever figure out the source of the humming? I’m having the exact same issue/Sound.

Hey FreeBee,

I took it in to the Ford dealer and it turned out to be the rear differential; the rear pinion bearing had some pitting and corrosion. They replaced that, the spacers seals and shims.

The shimming wasn’t quite right once they completed the work so they held on to the truck for another day, re-shimmed and the truck has been fine ever since.

Luckily the truck was still under warranty, I was able to get a loaner truck for one of the 3 days I was truckless.

Good luck in resolving your issue, hope this helps! Either way let us know when you figure it out.

Hey cpF150

Thanks for you’re reply. It sounds like I’ll have the same issue since the recording you made is identical to the sound I’m getting. I’m not so luck with the warranty part but all in all not too bad of a fix I hope.

Ill definitely post the outcome once I get it in the shop next week
