Default Humming during deceleration

So I'm noticing when I let off the gas anywhere from about 20 to 60mph, I hear a humming or whine noise. Sounds almost like I had shifted the transmission down manually. Goes away under acceleration.

Anyone have an idea what that would be? I know there is a long thread on here about diff problems, but it didn't seem to match the exact complaint.

That wouldn't happen to be in sport mode or tow mode would it? The shifting in sport mode holds gears and downshifts with the slightest braking causing higher Rpm's which you would get a humming, not sure about a whine type noise though.

No this is in normal mode. It doesn't actually shift but sounds similar, no as loud though. Faint hum/whirl

Blake,
Are you still having this issue? My 2016 5.0 w/ 3.73 gears just started to make a whine/hum sound around 45mph (Just reached 2400miles). Any faster and typical road noise masks it. The sound isn't noticeable below 30mph at all. It almost sounds like a hard tire on pavement. It seems to be worse when I let off the gas around the 48mph mark. I put the truck in 4a while I was at the 45mph speed and the sound became worse. I then felt a vibration through the pedal, not like I have ever had with previous f150 4x4s. I am wondering if it is the transfer case. Mine was built 2/27 of 16.

Does anyone else have any ideas? I have tried adjusting the tire pressure at a friends suggestion, but it didn't help.
Thank you all in advance

I'm still having the issue. Haven't taken it back in yet, as I'm sure I'll get the "it's normal" routine.

Mine had a whine from day one, purchased about year ago, under load. About 6 months later new crown and pinion were available and were replaced during the winter. All seemed good. About the last 2 weeks I noticed a whine while coasting from aprox 80 KPH (50 mph) and down, goes away when you put back under load. Dealer said it would have to get worse before they could determine where it is coming from I said it was just replaced, he said there may be a problem and would have to wait to hear from Ford. ( or words to that affect ) Said I still have lots of warranty so don't worry about it.
2015 F150 5.0 4X4 3:73 E lock.
LOL, so yes, it looks like it might be "NORMAL"
Houston, looks like we have a problem

Been dealing with the whine since about 450 miles on new 16 Rcab. Tired of dealing with my incompetent dealership, that seems to not be able to hear it or feel the vibration my truck has. My truck does it regardless of acceleration, deceleration and non-stop at 50+ MPH. I have also been talking with regional rep who suggest i take it to another dealership. I spoke with another dealership yesterday and am suppose to call them this week and schedule to stop by for test drive.

However, i did a test drive with a friend today who is a GM Technician for 30+ years just to make sure it isn't my imagination. He heard whining with no trouble and his exact words were ring and pinion gears. I then told him my transmission output shaft and pinion were out approx 3° of each other and his reply was i feel it in the seat. Funny thing my dealer hears and feels nothing.

If these gears are replaced properly the problem should not reoccur so soon. Makes you think defective, cheap parts or not installed correctly.

These trucks are so young they don't know the words . So they hum and whine when you overwork them.

Have you checked fluid levels in the tranny and transfer cases. My '07 would start to hum or whine if the levels were off. The transfer case seal with the tranny had a slight leak and levels would change in one or the other, depending on use. (2x or 4x). Dealer tech figured it out and replaced seals, the problem went away for good.

Not sure which post you are referring to, but my truck is XLT, 2WD Reg cab, 2.7 eco with 3:31 gear. It is 1 month old today. Started whining at around 450 miles on truck and i just now have 1400 on odometer. Been vibrating since day 1 and noticeable whine since day 11. Whining use to come and go under acceleration and deceleration , but has become nearly constant especially over 40MPH and non-stop in 60MPH range even at cruise. Have yet to push truck at all.
