It will blink x times with a momentary press or until you release. By default x is 3 without a trailer and 5 with a trailer (at least it was before 2020). You can change the number of blinks via forscan. The brake should have no impact to the blinker.

Depending on your light bar some have added relays to each wire run depending on how much power is drawn by the lightbar. Putco wants a constant hot or it will put the taillights in a spin and not function. When trying to pull the power they need it makes the computer think there is a miswire and it shuts them down. Their instructions work to resolve that problem for their light bar. Other light bars may draw too much power and computer thinks it's a short shutting them down. The relays resolve that problem because the relay draw is low.

Opt7 and the other generic one I used did not require the relays or a constant hot and wire just as you show.
I have a 2016 and purchased a Nilight light bar with sequential blinkers. I get the exact same issue as in this thread. What type of diodes do I need? Is there a specific type/grade and where did you purchase yours?

@Cverstij or anyone else. Can someone kindly address this? I have the same concern around trailer + Curt + BLIS. Thanks in advance.

if you are using a curt adapter that plugs in and splits the trailer harness it will cause issues. You have to wire to the tail lights. Putco was supposed to have their PNP harness out before Christmas but it still isn't shipping. Starkey Products is working on one for me and soon as it is out I will post that.

Again, you have to wire these to the tail lights.

Thanks for the quick reply! Excited to hear about the Starkey outcome.

Default My 2 cents

I have had many of these lightbars ( cheap ones and expensive ones with 2 + year warranty) on my 13 platinum and now my 18 lariat with led and bliss. In my opinion they work fine for a year then either short out or a few leds or entire section of leds go out. I have been sticking with a quality rigid bar that has a 5 year warranty that I have replaced once already for a cost of 12. for shipping so it is worth it for me. I wish I could find one that would last atleast 5 years and I would be happy. Wiring to the 13 was much easier. The 18 had to be wired to the tailight wire harness to avoid the trailer issue. I just disconnected mine today after a year of it working fine as my left brake light was stuck on and had blinker issues. Wiring was fine. Lightbar works fine but must have a short? I am probably giving up this time unless I read about a lighbar that will last.

I'm still on my original Putco Blade goin on 6 years now and no issues other than the original having to put the jumper under the dash and wiring to tail lights directly to avoid the trailer sensing issue

I’ve had mine wired this way since 10/19 with no issues.

I’m new to this. I’m trying to wire the Opt7 60” light bar to my 2021 XLT. I don’t have this connection on my tail lights. My tail lights have 2 connections. Can anyone help?

the opt7 will not work properly on your 21 because you have separate brake lights and turn signals.

That is unfortunate.
Any thoughts on a work around to possibly make it work?
