I could not pop mine off easily. I removed the mirror glass by using a long screwdriver to pry up two of the eight tabs holding the mirror to its motorized swivel. Then the mirror was easy to remove and set aside. There are four T-15 torx screws holding the clam shell of the mirror together. Remove those and the back shell and cap will come apart from the front of the mirror surround. Then you can slide the tabs of the mirror cap away from the back shell with a screwdriver or two. I did this to preserve the tabs. I've ordered color match paint in a spray can, along with a plastics adhesion promoter and a clear coat. $47 for paint vs $200+ for color matched caps. Scuff up the chrome with emory cloth, then 220 grit, then 400 grit to give a good base to apply adhesion promoter, then four-five coats of color, then clear. Voila.

Just have them shipped to a parcel delivery point just across the border... I do it regularly, and also gas up at the same time, including 8 Jerry cans with cheap gas... It helps make the 2 hour round trip pay for me..!!

Paints being shipped now and I'll post pics of the process. I have pics of the removal though...
8 small tabs surround the mirror mounting circle. Push your mirror up, from below mirror you should be able to see them and get a screwdriver in there...
one of four T-15 torx screws.
One more
And another
mirror hanging from it's heater wires--not a big deal here in SoCal, but Northeast will not want to break these...

Did u end up doing this? I'm up in vancouver and it's cheaper for me to take my textured caps off and get them painted , got quoted 400 to paint the caps and a grill , definitely a better deal then 225 plus exchange , just to get painted caps

You could do it yourself for about $40.00US. Scuff with 80 grit, then 120 to give the primer a surface it will adhere to. Then prime twice, base coat twice, wet sand base coat and then two stage urethane clear (matte, semi gloss or high gloss--your choice). I did mine in my garage. I did the rear Platinum banner, the grill, door handles and mirror caps so I spent more time and money on paints but the whole job cost me $250 in materials.
