How to remove 2015 mirror caps!!
just purchased a 15 Fx4 sport and the mirrors are black and the truck is white, I was gonna buy a set of painted caps online and was wondering if anyone has removed these before I pull the trigger and pay $300 for the painted ones? Thanks

I was thinking about changing mine out to either black or chrome so I went ahead and researched it. I don't have them yet but decided to check it out.
The mirror caps are attached with four built in clips that attach to tabs on the mirror housing itself. Getting it started is a little tricky. Too much force and you will break them off. Not enough force and you won't get it separated enough. I did this with zero tools.
Once I separated it about half an inch starting at the outside, I slid my finger around to where the first bottom tab was. I used a flashlight to find where they were but after you see the pictures you'll know where they're at. Once I popped one bottom one out, I popped the top. Slid my fingers on the bottom to the next bottom tab and popped it out. Same for the last one on top. Once those are out, it comes right off. Putting it back on was just as simple.
The only advice I can give is don't use a lot of force. Just a slight tug was enough to pop each clip out. The pictures show the tabs on the mirror housing, so maybe you can separate it a little bit and get a tool in there to depress the tab. This may not work though because you don't have a whole lot of room to work with.

I'd rather not paint the ones I have now because they are textured. Just hoping for some info on the removal before I buy them, I replaced the ones on my 2010 but it wasn't so easy to do so I was wondering if the details changed any on the 2015's.... Do you have a link you can share?

can't help you with the removal, but found some painted mirror caps for $220 vs $300
