We replace the o-rings on oil filter carrier so perhaps it is not too far out to replace o-rings on the drain plug. I see no reason the plastic plug should go bad if the plastic for the drain pan isn't going bad. I'm due in January so I'll try to remember to bring the dial calipers under the truck with me to size the o-rings for future replacement... if someone doesn't beat me to it.

A while back there was a discussion on the o-ring size. #208 will work.

I changed mine at my 3rd oil change, 30K miles. Note really sure why but I still have an extra.

Is this specifically referencing the plastic drain plugs? Because I'm kind of confused. I've been driving and maintaining vehicles since the mid 90's and have literally never replaced a drain plug. Crush washers on the other hand... yes.

For what its worth as a dealer tech I have yet to see a oil leak from the plastic drain plug leaking.
I would say this is similar to the O ring built into the drain plug design for the metal drain plugs Ford uses, I do not believe Ford provides a option to get the O ring by itself in either case so it your really worried about it then just go buy a large pack of O rings the correct size and replace it as you would replace a crush washer.

My old '04 5.4 drain plug used to come out and go back in hard pretty much the entire way...but it never leaked after dozens of oil changes and driving it for 12years and 5 months. One day at the auto parts store, I picked up a thread chaser, and never had a problem again.

I've done either side of 15 oil changes on my '16, and never had a problem with it yet either.

Been changing oil since '75 cars/trucks either had copper crush gaskets or rubber o rings. 45 years later NEVER have needed to replace a drain plug.

Got around 35k and 7 oil changes on the '19 5.0 and the oil plug is still good. I have a spare in the glovebox, no way it will do 100k.

96K miles, multiple oil changes, still on original plug....no leaks.

I hate the plastic plug and how fast the oil comes out. I did buy a spare from O'Reilly that is hanging in the garage just in case. Kind of hard to run to the store for a replacement if no oil in the engine. Not brave enough to switch to a Ronin type valve . The fiber board is more of a pain than anything else when changing the oil. I would imagine it is there for gas mileage as it sure isn't for rock protection.
