Biased poll question. "taking a chance" Who says you are taking a chance? Random internet guys that don't believe synthetic oils actually lasts as long as they do?

You're not really understanding those that change it early. If you read their posts:

- "I'm changing it at X,XXX miles because my pappy did, and his pappy before him."
- "I'm changing it at X,XXX miles because it's break-in oil, and needs to be changed."
- "I'm changing it at X,XXX miles because oil is cheap and my truck isn't."
- "I'm changing every X,XXX miles because I don't believe that the engineers know what they are talking about".
- "I'm changing it every X,XXX miles because I don't trust the IOLM".

or "my dealer says to"
or ...

I can't say anyone says "because synthetic oils don't last as long as they do".

The ones that blow my mind are the ones who change it every 3K and use full synthetic each time!

On my EB Transit every 5000 because it is heavily loaded 24/7.

On my F150 it will probably be annual since I don't expect a lot of miles.

On my diesel vehicles, 10k or annual, which ever comes 1st.

I follow it, but only to 50%. Tell me I’m wasting money. I don’t care. The extra money is worth it to ME.

I change mine every 5k because the dealership does not use full Synthetic rather a synthetic blend. I do request full synthetic when I am planning on running longer and working the truck a bit harder. I do find that its funny how the manual also recommends if the IOLM is not functioning they state to change it every 6 months or 5k so for those who don't trust it your well within the manual to change it every 5k.
from the manual:

Well that would put it under the severe use section and perfectly normal to use 5K.
