Default How do you hook up an amp in 16

Looking for a little help on how to hook up a amp to a stock unit. Where do I tap into the audio wires. Any photos would be appreciated. I'm looking to put in a single sub with a small amp

If you don't have experience with this, you'll want what's called "speed wire" and a signal converter.

Head unit speaker outputs > signal converter > amp RCA inputs
Amp door speaker outputs > speed wire > Speakers
Amp sub output > sub

You'll also need to run power, ground, and a remote turn on lead.

Generally speaking, amplifier installs aren't that expensive. You should get a quote and decide if you'd rather pay a knowledgeable installer to do this for you. Watch some YouTube videos to gauge your relative skill level.

Check the forum for other threads on this. I thought I read that the wires were already run. I could be wrong, I am old.

There are many threads on this topic.

My understanding is that the wire harness for the factory subwoofer is there for you to tap into the remote wire. You will still need to run a power wire from the battery and use an inline converter to tap into the rear speakers in the side pillar.

driver's side inside the C-pillar trim. close to the bottom where the wires come up from the door sill plate there should be an unhooked plug with 6 or 7(iirc) wires.

looks like this

After reading through a crazy amount of pages. It doesn't really answer my question. I'm more then capable oh hooking up the remote wire, and the 12v supply. I'm just not sure about the audio converter. Do I definitely need it. And where can I get it from
