Default Hitch wiring

I have a 15 XLT with no tow package. Prev. owner put an aftermarket hitch on with 4-flat plug.

What do I need if I want to add a 7-pin?
Is the wiring behind the dash for a TBC?

They make them without the tow package? Joke, but no dealers in my area has any XLT or above models without the tow package.

Mine was a prior fleet vehicle so it has different options. No tow package but has 36gal tank. Aftermarket Hidden Hitch.

Lmao it's soo true... why do they build em with out some form of tow package, should be mandatory for a truck. Idk that ive ever seen an ecoboost or 5L with out a hitch. Im in a 300a so my guess is its a base motor thing lol I could totally be wrong though

Stock Bumper - 5000* lb

53B Class IV Hitch (Referred to as Medium Duty Tow Package in Tow Guide) - 5000" lb

53A Heavy Duty Tow Package - 5000 lb without WDH / Up to 11,000 lb with WDH.

53C Max Tow - 5000 lb without WDH / Up to 12300 WDH

53B is Standard on 301A and above / $95 Option on 100A, 101A or 300A. This includes the Smart Tow Connector and 7 pin.

* Ford limit for hitch and truck is stated at 5000 lb without WDH. Tow Guide states max without HD Tow Package is 5000 lb. Owners Manual says 5100 lb without HD Tow Package. Bumper is rated at 5100 lb in both.

WDH - Weight Distributing Hitch

If you are not going to use a WDH you are limited to 5000 lb / 5100 lb whether you have a standard 100A 3.5L TiVCT or a 3.5EB HDPP Max Tow.

I believe the HD Tow Package is overpriced. Instead of paying $895 + $250 for the camera (req'd since 2016) I would pay $95 for the 53B Hitch as an option then buy the Ford Aux Trans Cooler for $32 from an online parts dealer. Haven't priced the hoses yet.

Thanks for shedding some light on things. I'll probably never tow any thing close to 5k lol but I may get the cooler anyway if it's that cheap lol
