High engine and idle hours?
[QUOTE=Stadt;5830594]I'm not looking to argue here but honestly with the aftermarket remote starter the fuel it uses and the run time is not logged, as soon as my key is in the ignition the trip meter I reset every time I fuel up starts running again and the numbers then start to change as it idles, but it can idle for 15 min with out the key in and the trip meters remain the same as they were before I shut it off the last time. I do this on purpose every time i start my truck because it doesn't lower my mpg. It's odd really it should count as that's the purpose of the hour meters ect. But it seems like till the key is in the ignition the computer is asleep. Again not looking to argue, I think it's strange too but it is what it is. I don't wanna hijack or derail this thread any further and sorry to the OP
This is one of the most current threads for engine hour life readings so I'll resurrect this one.

Curious what the reading of engine hours is -life of the vehicle or since last reset.
Oil was changed yesterday. Display now reads 100% oil life but I do not know if that was reset to 100% or if the system is telling me that it is reading oil condition as 100%. First thing I checked before driving away was if Oil Life was reading 100% or not.
I would like to know if pressing "OK" to reset oil life also resets engine hours / idle hours.
Yes, the obvious answer is "try it and see what happens -duh". However, I do not wish to reset right now if that is how it works.
I feel like it is a value that can be reset, such as you now have a monitor since the last service, for instance, or for a trip, whatever a person wishes to use as a counter.
The numbers on my dash seem suspiciously low for a 4 year old vehicle so thought I'd reach out before I start resetting stuff.

Here is my 2016 with 42k miles
The more I think about it, now that I'm actually thinking about it, 2300 hours seems realistic. At first, by the math, it's like 97 days of run time. However, we don't drive more than a few hours a day with exception of trips. Even long commute vehicles are a few hours max.
So yeah, I can see that.
Interesting though that it puts the average MPH pretty low. Been reading through threads and it's a common theme -miles/hours=<city driving!>.
Thanks for the follow up -I'm sure the tech reset the OLM yesterday. My first step was to do that upon leaving, but when switched to the vehicle menu that was the active screen. Not sure I left it there, but I may have.
Regardless, it's reading 100% now and that's fine. I don't plan to rely on the meter but at least it won't wear down to low numbers inaccurately.
