I purchased a new to me 2020 F150 XLT opt 302A w/2.7L Ecoboost in late April this year. It was in great shape and had new tires, low miles for the year (48,000). Since then I have dived deep into modding my truck to add some things I wished it had had. With much help from this forum and some pioneers on here I have successfully added 4A transfer case; Lighted sun visors with garage door opener; heated steering wheel; Motimoro head and tail lights; Auto folding side mirrors, heated, Blis, and puddle lamps; 4 key remote fobs with remote start ; and the last project BLIS sensors in the taillights all working fine.
All of these mods are working just fine in my truck, unbelieveably. There are just a couple of persistent DTCs I have not been able to clear so far though. Maybe with all the experienced peeps on this site though maybe I can figure them out.
1. I added the 4 button remoted fobs to my vehicle so I could remote start from the key fob instead of using the Ford Pass app. I followed the advice from this thread: https://www.f150forum.com/f118/3-4-b...ispreloading=1 .. The remote works great however I get a persistent DTC from the Body module
I have tried several different things to get this to clear. None successful. Do I have the wrong remotes? They work perfectly. Is there a setting in the BCM that needs to be changed? Searches on this forum and in general have only resulted in generic answers. What specifically is it that the BCM doesn't like? Can I look at PIDS in Forscan to figure out whats going on?
2. As part of the side mirror and blis upgrades I replaced the door harnesses to get to the 21 pin connector and add the upgraded mirrors with BLIS (https://www.f150forum.com/f118/can-bliss-added-323504/ and https://www.f150forum.com/f118/retro...rs-xlt-309210/ ) This after much work and ordering the wrong parts ended in success yesterday. However, there is one nagging DTC that consistently shows up:
As part of the upgrade I had to change out the window/mirror control switch to add the button to fold the mirrors. This went flawlessly once I obtained all the parts. Ever since I get the DTC for switch illumination. The only thing I have noticed about the illumination is that the light doesn't turn on when I open the drivers door. The door lock switches and other switched do light up when the door is opened. The window control switch does light up once you turn the key to the start position. This does make sense once I think about it as the window and mirror controls don't work if the ignition is off. I have no idea where to look to remedy this situation. What is the code setting criteria. Once again is there something I can look at in Forscan to fiddle with settings and get this cleared?
I look forward to everyone's input on these questions.
The next item on the horizon. Where do I go from here now that I have most of my wish list completed? What should the next project be? Have been considering Adaptive Cruise Control however I find it a little annoying many times when I drive my wife's Toyota.
It would be nice to have memory seats and mirrors but replacing the whole dash wiring harness and front seats just to get it doesn't make any sense to me. Don't want leather seats. Don't care or need cooled seats. I live Up North.
For problem 1 (B1218) it would be helpful to list the things you have tried. Otherwise we are all possibly going to suggest what you have already tried.
I installed a new TPMS receiver ordered P/N GD9Z-15607-J from Lakeland Ford on their reconmendation. The box showed P/N GD9z-15607-J the part in the box was GD9T-15K619-CB.
I bought two OEM 4 button remotes from Northcoast Keyless N5F-A08TDA. They have Ford logo and part numbers on them. They are 902 MHz. Look original. Got the keys cut from a local locksmith and he programmed them into the truck.
I loaded the "as built" TPMS data into the module. Initially got a DTC that the initial programming was not complete. Went into the tpms setup on Forscan and got two options: 1. 434 MHz; 2. 868 MHz. I chose 868. That cleared the initialization DTC. Don't know why 902 isn't a choice.
Through google searches I learn that some 2020 F150s came with 315 Mhz wheel sensors, some came with 434 Mhz sensors. Went to Autozone to see if they could test my TPMS and tell me what freq they are. They said their machine couldn't do that. They looked up the replacement part for 2020 F150 TPMS and their part is DUAL frequency 315 AND 434.
Still have the BCM DTC. Never had to reset the tire pressures. They read perfectly. The two remotes work perfectly. The remote start from the keyfob work perefectly. Still have the BCM DTC.
On the illumination DTC I had a thought that I could run a jumper wire from the door lock switch light to the window/mirror control lighting wire. That would get the illumination on the window pad to come on when I open the door like all the other switches. Don't have any idea if that would clear the DTC.
