Default Help please my centrer console door is stuck closed

Hello all.

I have a problem that I could really use some help with. The wood sliding door cover behind the shifter on the center console is stuck closed. I plugged a USB stick into the media port that is to long and it is jamming the door so I cannot open it. I dont want to break the door or the USB port. Anyone know how I can get this un jammed. It's a brand new truck.
Thanks

Will the cover open at all? Even a half inch or something?

Haha I did the same thing. I took off the center trim that goes over the radio (pull the change cover on top and remove the two screws). Then I removed the side covers, and the console trim. Finally was able to lift it enough to reach my finger in and bend the usb key down enough to open it. Literally did all that the day I brought my new truck from the dealer. Fixed it though.

I did the same thing and I eventually just forced it open. Doing that broke the usb stick which is fine with me. It didn't damage the port at all. This method worked for me but may not be the best option. Good luck.

I’d take a coat hanger or something and try to slide the hook part under the tray and try to get it between the USB stick and cover door. If you can do that, I’d try to slide the cover back to an open position while finagling the hanger. You just need a little force downward on the USB stick.

Thank you everyone for your ideas. I ended up getting an L bracket underneath and forcing it open. It broke the USB stick but no damage to the truck.

I did this too. It's a stupid, stupid design. At the very least, the bottom of that cover should be smooth so it doesn't catch on a long usb drive.
