Maybe on your truck that switch is hard to turn. On mine just the slight touch of a finger is enough to rotate that thing.

Again, my problem is those chimes would have to be a LOT louder for me to hear. Maybe have to rig up some kind of flashing LED light to warn me the switch is on.

Why not just leave the switch on Auto? Never have to mess with it and when you bump it, it will just stay where it is.
