Default Help to identify a connector

Hello from germany.
Until today i only read along, but now i need your help.

Two months ago i bought my dream truck, F150 XLT 3,5L. For german roads a really big car, but i love it.

When i vacuumed the driver's footwell i found a loose connector. Directly under the steering column, on the factory wiring harness.

Unfortunately I can't find a connection or is something else missing?

Thank you in advance

Looks like the OBD test connector. There is nothing it would hook to.

Likely an option you don't have, perhaps a towing module feed or the like. The OBD connector is firmly fastened to the bottom of the knee panel frame where it's easy to get at.

+1

If you decide to do any upgrades like heated steering wheel or Sync Connect, etc you can use it. Otherwise nothing to connect.

Yes, if you can track the wires, it should go into the plug connected to the back of the Gateway module/OBDII port just down and to the right of your hand. It does not connect to anything unless you make modifications to your vehicle.

Yeah, not sure of the original intent of the gray plug but it connects to the CAN module communication system in the truck. All of that communication is handled by the Gateway module which also includes the OBD II port. The gray plug was probably originally put there for testing by Ford techs or a planned upgrade that never came out. Shouldn’t cause any problems just hanging out behind the dash.
