OP, sounds like you want to do the trade and are just looking for other forum members to encourage you/justify it. Like everyone else, I wouldn't even consider doing this trade, but do whatever you want/can afford.

I've no doubt that the Platinum has more and nicer features than your Lariat. However the 502A package is an "upper level" package on an upper level truck. At the end of the day, you're going to have to decide what those extra features are worth to you.

Monetizing those features and their worth are easy when you go and trade in on a newer truck, but what you're talking about doing, you're going to be hard-pressed to come to an accurate monetization of the cost you're taking on. I would guess that you need to estimate the worth of the vehicles in the secondary market. I'll bet that the 2 vehicles are very close in worth already due to the mileage. Then you have to factor in the extra maintenance you're going to pay on the Platinum because it's getting to the point that stuff is going to start to need replacing (brakes, timing chains, shocks, etc.).

It's your decision, obviously, but you have a nice truck with relatively low mileage. What you consider value is different that want I or others consider value.

EDIT
The original sticker of either truck is fairly useless at this point. KBB or Edmunds are better sources of value at this point.

No way!!! You're going from a 6.5' bed (rare with the super crew) to a 5.5' bed and over doubling your miles.

Wait! Trade AND you pay him $1000??? Run. Fast. Somebody is trying to screw you hard. I just looked up on KBB...your truck is worth $3,000 MORE than the Platinum.

If you want to upgrade find another truck and dealer. RUN from this deal/dealer.

I hate to pile on, but I definitely agree with everyone else. I would get the heck away from this dealer ASAP! I'd drive that Lariat another year or two and just trade for a new or slightly used Platinum with exactly what you want.
