Default Help

I have a 2018 F150 lariat 5.0. A few times in the past couple of weeks I noticed when I’d stop and the engine would shut off automatically when I took emu foot off the brake it would die. Last week about 8 hours into driving on a trip I stopped to get gas and truck would not start for approximately 45 minutes. After waiting it finally turned over and started. I had battery and alternator checked and was told both were good. I have right around 75000 miles thus far. Could it be spark plugs?

You need a scan done, Advanced auto does that for free I think.
Or AutoZone?
Get some code numbers.

Does the truck run or idle rough otherwise?

If you are on the original battery you may consider replacing it. 4 years in Texas heat is a battery killer. Here in AZ the same thing happens. They may test good but they’re doomed. Just my 2 cents.

Battery or fuel pump?

Any codes? You will need Forscan to check for more than what a standard OBD II reader will show.

You said, when I’d stop and the engine would shut off automatically.
How was that the starter?

Do you have that automatic stop/start?
The gas saver technology?

I was wondering the same... it sounds like you have auto start stop, and after the engine shut off it was not able to restart? And the engine was not actually dying due to a bad starter?
