Default Heavy Duty Payload Package (HDPP) really include thicker frame?

I've seen a few discussions here claiming that the heavy duty payload package (HDPP) includes a thicker frame. But, the 2018 brochure (https://www.ford.com/services/assets...-150&year=2018) doesn't mention this but only includes: "3.73 electronic-locking rear axle, 9.75" gearset, 36-gallon fuel tank, upgraded springs, auxiliary transmission oil cooler, 17" silver heavy-duty steel wheels with LT245/70R17E BSW allterrain tires on XL, and 18" silver heavy-duty aluminum wheels with LT275/65R18C OWL all-terrain tires on XLT and LARIAT." My truck already has the locking rear axle, 36-gal fuel tnk, aux trans cooler, so I was hoping a spring/tire/wheel upgrade could give me HDPP (minus gearset). Would love to see a factual reference to the thicker frame on HDPP if anyone has one.

While the chart above does provide some info, there's a few threads here where nobody could figure out what defined which frame you get within your cab/drive/wb category. Two people with identical trucks can have different frames for reasons unknown. Seems what you get is what you get. The best way is to look under the driver's door at the side of the frame and see what the white sticker says, so you need to see the truck in person to know for sure.

Here’s mine

You can see under the big letter C it says 4x4 HD

EDIT: Sorry I don't know why the pic keeps showing up so small...

2018 SCREW Sport - sticker dated 4/18/2018, code JACK and under that it says "C/C MINI 145.0 - 4X4 HD". I have neither tow or payload packages. I can't imagine I have the HD frame.

I believe the chart is saying you have the options of a;

LD frame at .87 (6500 GVWR and there abouts)
HD frame at .10 (7000 GVWR and there abouts)
HP/HDPP frame at .11 (7800 GVWR and there abouts)

One thing that does define which frame you get is that the HDPP does get the thickest frame. Which I kind of think is what the OP was asking bout.

I have a 2018 145" SCREW with Max Tow Package and a 4X4 HPP sticker on my frame.

Here is the link to the brochure with the frame specs.

Yes but in other threads there are people who have the HDPP but their frame only says HD. Also, there are some without the HDPP frame who have the HPP frame. It seems very random.

That document is pretty interesting. Beyond listing the 10-speed 1:1 ratio in 7th....it also revealed (to me) that Lariat and higher trims get a heavier duty alternator.

I measured a .117" thickness in three different places on the frame of my 2017 145" SCrew FX4 with max tow. Allowing a little for the paint thickness, do I have an "unmarked" HDPP frame?

Quick Reply: Heavy Duty Payload Package (HDPP) really include thicker frame?
