Health report error codes

Default Health report error codes

I had a health report done on my truck today and it’s showing these codes. My question now is it something wrong with my truck or is it the diagnostic tool used? My truck is a 2015 F-150 XLT 4x4

Those are all communication errors. Is your battery in good shape? A weak battery can cause the modules to boot up slower during a start-up and cause all kinds of weird DTCs.

Have you made any changes lately with FORScan? Communication errors often appear after the first start-up after you change module PIDs with FORScan.

Do you have something plugged into the OBDII port? These devices (i.e.: insurance driving monitors) can go bad and cause issues.

Has the battery recently been removed or replaced?

A code starting with "U" is a communication error and is sometimes related to battery terminals having been reconnected.
I think they will all be related -if you have the codes cleared from your local auto parts store, they may not return -if so then there is a problem to investigate.

I had my battery replaced yesterday prior to getting this scan done. I don't have anything plugged in so that would not be it. Could any of this be my body control module going bad?

U0155 is common when the battery is weak. I'm seeing more error codes from loss of communication caused by weak batteries these days. Its likely either not being driven much or is being driven but is too old to provide all the power needed to the electronics at start up.

FORScan is a software package that, with an ELM327 adaptor, allows you to communicate with all of the modules in your truck. You can read DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes), clear DTCs, change module PIDs (Parameter IDentifiers) to unlock or change options, perform certain module tests, etc. There is a sticky at the top of this forum all about FORScan. Read Post #1.

To give you a little more information regarding your DTCs:
  • The first letter is the Prefix Code. In your case, as mentioned, they are all "U" - network errors.
  • The next digit is the Code Type. In your case these are all "0" - generic ISO/SAE controlled codes.
  • The next digit is the Sub System. In you case: "1" - emission management (air/fuel); "2" - injector circuit (fuel/air); "4" - emission control.
  • The next two digits are Particular Problem Designator.
  • The next two digits, immediately after the colon ":" is the Failure Type Code. In your case: "00" - means that no additional failure information is associated with that DTC; "82" - indicates that the code was issued without an occurrence counter update code (see below).
  • The last two characters after the dash (-) is the Occurrence Counter. This is the number of times this code has been issued in hexidecimal. In your case: "08" is eight occurrences; "0A" - is ten occurrences.
As mentioned, if you have disconnected the battery for any reason, these DTCs or similar ones, can be broadcasted. If you have not experienced any operational issues with your truck, then you can probably just ignore them for now. The vast majority of DTCs do not illuminate the CEL (Check Engine Light) or cause any operational issues, but are used by techs to help troubleshoot issues that occur.

Note: Inexpensive generic OBDII code readers only actually read codes issued from the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) or sometimes the ABS module. To read and clear DTCs from a module such as FCIM (Front Controls Interface Module) you need FORScan, Ford IDS (the system used by Ford dealerships), or other high-end (and extremely expensive) diagnostic tools.

When you changed the battery, did you reset the BMS (Battery Management System)? You didn't say which engine you have. Do you have Auto-Start-Stop? If you do, you may find that it does not work as you expect without the reset. This is not a big issue and won't cause any problems other than the A-S-S might stop working (which many people consider a benefit).

Your BCM is not going bad. Clear the codes (if you can) and drive your truck as normal.
