Default Headrest rattling

2018 F150 XLT SuperCrew 4x4 with 40/20/40 cloth seats.

My passenger side front seat headrest rattles on rough roads. It's the only rattle in the truck which makes it very annoying. If I put pressure on it with my hand when driving, the rattle disappears. I've tried adjusting the headrest height and angle, to no avail. Any ideas how to quiet it down, maybe a shim or something similar?

Thanks.

There is this rubber coated metal block bolted at the top of the seat between the headrest posts. The rubber separates and the metal block rattles. If you smack the side of the seat hard enough you can make it rattle. It's a counterweight to help reduce the seat from shaking when no one is sitting in it.

I raised the headrest all the way and found no block as mentioned. Also, now the headrest is stuck in the fully extended position and I can't lower it. What's the deal with that? I tried tilting it and pushing hard up and down but it won't budge. Is there a special procedure? The owners manual doesn't help on this.

Thanks.

There is a release in the plastic ring on the seat the headrest is inserted into. Its a PITA at times, but it's there, just doesn't stand out. The block is inside the seat back, only way to find it is to unzip the back of the seat cover. Try this, Smack the side of the seat a few time to mimic it shaking while driving, and if you hear a rattle, that its that block.

This is what the block looks like. This one fell out of the seat. There are two brackets attached to those nubs you see at the corners that bolt to the seat. The nubs break and the block then can smack into the headrest tubes causing the rattle. I've had to replace it twice, third time I just yanked it out and didn't replace it.

Default Passenger seat rattling on 2018 f150

There is a video on Youtube that shows how to replace the counterweight. One note: The video says that the two bolts that hold the counterweight are 7/32". Mine ended up being 5.5mm. Be sure and find the video that shows how to remove the holders that the headrest posts slide into. Entire replacement (After I got the correct size socket) was about an hour.
